The “Dientes de Navarino Circuit” is a trekking experience at the edge of the world! This southernmost trekking route is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will fascinate curious and experienced hikers.

On this pioneer-adventure in the mountains of Dientes de Navarino, you will land right in the middle of Tierra del Fuego’s mystic beauty. These natural jewels are embedded in small blue-lustrous lagoons. Also hike through the southern end of the world to watch beavers building their dams, while resisting the extremely strong gusts of wind that indicate the closeness of Cape Horn.

FAQ

FAQ

Where is Dientes de Navarino Circuit?

Dientes de Navarino is the southernmost trekking route in the world, and is located in Navarino Island, in the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. Navarino island is part of the commune of Cabo de Hornos, in the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica.

The amazing Dientes de Navarino (Navarino Teeth) is a mountain range covered by Magellanic forests and extensive peat mudflats with lakes and lagoons rich in fauna. The famous hiking circuit goes around the jagged pinnacles known as the Dientes de Navarino and passes peaks such as Cerro Clem and Montes Lindenmayer.

Best season
Truth be told, you can visit the Patagonia whenever you want. Most National Parks are open all year round and all seasons have something special to offer. That being said, the most recommended time of the year to enjoy Patagonia is from October to April, when days are longer and temperatures are not that low. During wintertime (June to September) you may have some trouble completing your trek due to bad weather conditions and snow. Moreover, not all tours can be operated during these months.

Training
Do you make it to your destinations as planned? Often this depends on the unpredictable weather in the mountains. However, it can also depend on your own physical condition.

Excellent physical fitness and team spirit are necessary requirements for this tour. Moreover, you should be able to walk long distances (4 to 8 hours a day) on muddy, rocky and sometimes snowy trails carrying your own backpack of 50 - 60 liter  (10-13 kg / 22–29 lbs). Your personal items, camping mat, and sleeping bag, as well as some meals for the trekking days, have to be carried by yourself. Porters carry the expedition tents, all cooking facilities and set up camp.

Do you like walking, have you done trekking at an altitude more often and do you sport twice a week on average? With a little extra training, you’ll soon be ready for this beautiful trekking in Patagonia.

Is this the first time that you are trekking in the mountains? Make sure you are well prepared. This is important for your safety, but also for that of your team. Make sure you start six months in advance with an hour’s walk twice a week. Read this blog post and get fit for trekking in Patagonia.
